Creating Puzzles
What is the difference between Built-in, Photos, and Saved? - Built-in puzzles are included with Pieceworks. Photos lets you create a puzzle from one of your own images. Saved shows puzzles you have already saved or started.
What is Quick Start? - Quick Start automatically chooses recommended puzzle settings for your photo so you can begin without adjusting anything.
What is Customize Difficulty? - Customize Difficulty lets you choose the puzzle size, starting layout, tab size, edge jaggedness, and shape variety before starting.

Difficulty
What does the difficulty score mean? - The score estimates how challenging the puzzle may be. It considers piece count, piece shape, image detail, rotation, and snapping.
Why does Pieceworks analyze my photo? - Some photos are naturally harder as puzzles. Low contrast, smooth areas like sky or water, and limited color variety can make pieces harder to match.
Why can't I start a very large puzzle? - Very large puzzles may use a lot of memory or run slowly. Pieceworks warns you or blocks sizes that may be too demanding for your device.

Saved Puzzles
Are my puzzles saved? - Yes. Saved puzzles keep your progress, placed pieces, time, best time, and completion status.
Can I rename or duplicate a puzzle? - Yes. Open Saved Puzzles, use the menu next to a puzzle, then choose Rename or Duplicate.
What is Run History? - Run History shows previous completed attempts for a saved puzzle, so you can compare your times.

Sharing and Backups
What is a .jpuz file? - A .jpuz file is a Pieceworks puzzle file. It can be imported, exported, backed up, and shared with other Pieceworks users.
What does Export All Puzzles do? - Export All Puzzles lets you share all saved puzzle files from your library.
What does Backup All Data do? - Backup All Data creates a zip backup containing your saved puzzle files, so you can keep a copy or move them to another device.
Will Restore Backup erase my current puzzles? - No. Restore Backup imports puzzles from the backup into your library. It does not erase your current puzzles.

Plans
How many photo puzzles can I make for free? - Free users can create one photo puzzle per month.
What does Standard unlock? - Standard unlocks unlimited personal puzzle creation, puzzle import/export, and some of the built-in puzzle packs.
What does Premium unlock? - Premium includes everything in Standard, plus Customize Puzzle, Local Co-op, Export All Puzzles, and access to all built-in puzzle packs.

Selected Piece Toolbar
How do I rotate a piece? - Double-tap a loose puzzle piece to rotate it 90 degrees. If a piece is selected, you can also use the Rotate buttons in the selected-piece toolbar.
Why doesn't double tapping always rotate a piece? - Only loose pieces can be rotated. Pieces that have already snapped into their correct position are locked in place.
What does Carry do? - Carry helps move a selected piece or cluster across a larger board more easily.
What does Detach do? - Detach separates a selected piece from a loose cluster when available.
What does Send to Tray do? - Send to Tray moves the selected loose piece or cluster into the currently selected tray. When Drag Pieces Into Tray is enabled in Settings, you can also drag loose pieces directly into the tray.

Tray Controls
What is the tray? - The tray helps organize loose pieces and clusters while keeping the board less crowded. Use Send to Tray, or drag pieces into it when Drag Pieces Into Tray is enabled. Tap a tray piece to bring it back, or long-press and drag it directly onto the board.
What does All In do? - All In moves loose pieces from the board into the selected tray.
What does All Out do? - All Out brings pieces from the selected tray back onto the board.
How do I switch trays? - Use the left and right arrows in the tray header, or swipe across the tray selector capsule, to switch between trays.
Can I rename a tray? - Yes. Long-press the tray name to give that tray a custom name. The name is saved with the puzzle.
Can I rearrange pieces in the tray? - Yes. Double-tap the tray name to enter Rearrange Mode, then drag pieces left or right. Double-tap the tray name again to exit Rearrange Mode.
Can I rotate pieces while they are in the tray? - Yes. Double-tap a tray piece to rotate it 90 degrees.
Can I drag pieces directly out of the tray? - Yes. Long-press a tray piece, then drag upward to place it directly onto the board.

Top Controls
What does Undo do? - Undo reverses your most recent puzzle action when available.
What does Redo do? - Redo reapplies an action after you undo it.
What is Multi-Select? - Multi-Select lets you select several loose pieces and move them together or send them to the tray.
How does Multi-Select work? - Turn on Multi-Select, then tap loose pieces or drag a selection box around several loose pieces. Selected pieces can be moved together or sent to the tray.
What does the gear button open? - The gear opens puzzle controls, settings, save options, co-op, import/export, backup, and help.

Game Controls
What does Pause do? - Pause stops the puzzle timer and blocks the board until you resume.
What does Reset View do? - Reset View returns the board camera to its default position and zoom.
What does Restart Puzzle do? - Restart resets the current puzzle, including the board, tray, timer, moves, rotations, snaps, and undo history. Previous completed runs and your best time are preserved.
What is Run History? - Run History shows previous completed attempts for this puzzle.
What does Exit do? - Exit leaves the current puzzle. Saved puzzles will keep their saved or autosaved progress.

Reference Image
What is Show Reference? - Show Reference displays the finished picture while you solve.
What does Unlock Reference do? - Unlock Reference lets you interact with the reference image, such as moving it when available.
What does Reset Reference do? - Reset Reference returns the reference image to its default placement and size.
What does Mini Reference do? - Mini Reference keeps the reference image smaller and easier to keep out of the way.

Visual Settings
What does Auto Center do? - Auto Center moves the view toward the piece you select.
What does Pulse Highlight do? - Pulse Highlight adds a pulsing effect to the selected piece highlight.
What does Dim Snapped do? - Dim Snapped makes placed pieces less visually prominent so loose pieces are easier to see.
What does Loose Glow do? - Loose Glow adds extra emphasis to pieces that are still movable.
What does Show Grid do? - Show Grid displays the puzzle layout behind the pieces.
What does Highlight Color change? - Highlight Color changes the color used for selected pieces and related selection effects.
What does Board Background change? - Board Background changes the color of the puzzle workspace behind the pieces. Different colors can improve visibility depending on the image you are solving, such as very dark, very light, or black-and-white puzzles. You can choose from several presets or select your own custom color at any time.
What does Toolbar Top Right do? - Toolbar Top Right keeps the selected-piece toolbar near the top-right of the screen instead of positioning it near the selected piece.
What does Return Piece to Previous Board Position do? - Return Piece to Previous Board Position controls what happens when you single-tap a tray piece. When enabled, the piece returns to its previous board position. When disabled, it is placed in an open area near the current view to help keep pieces from stacking.
What does Drag Pieces Into Tray do? - Drag Pieces Into Tray lets you move loose pieces into the selected tray by dragging them toward the bottom of the screen. Turn it off if you prefer to use Send to Tray instead. Dragging pieces out of the tray remains available.
What does Piece Detail change? - Piece Detail controls how much visual detail is shown while solving. Higher settings can improve appearance, but may use more memory, battery, or processing power on larger puzzles.
What does Show Clock do? - Show Clock turns the puzzle timer display on or off while you solve.

Co-op
What is the Co-op Menu? - The Co-op Menu lets nearby players host, join, leave, and view a local co-op puzzle session.
What does Host do? - Host starts a local co-op room so nearby players can join your puzzle.
What does Join do? - Join searches for nearby co-op sessions and connects to one you choose.
What does Stop Co-op do? - Stop Co-op leaves or ends the current co-op session.
